Are you ready for an adventure? Harzdrenalin, the adrenaline junkie's paradise in Germany, has a new attraction for the whole family to enjoy. Meet Expedition Water, a custom installation of the Explorer 5D, a family-friendly and immersive simulator ride with 5D effects.
Located next to the Rappbodetalsperre, the largest dam in Germany, Harzdrenalin is well-known for its thrilling attractions such as a zipline, gigaswing, and ultrashot from ABC Rides. But now, with Expedition Water, the experience is made even more accessible for families and even those in wheelchairs.
The Explorer 5D is designed to take guests on a journey they'll never forget. Our creative team has created a story that will transport guests to a laboratory where they accidentally get shrunken to the size of a waterdrop. Accompanied by Prof. Fallwater, guests will fly over the area with a drone until a sudden change in the weather causes the drone to crash into the water. This prompts guests to explore the underwater world of the Rappbodetalsperre, take a closer look at the dam, and experience a fast-paced ride through it. In the end, everyone returns to their normal size.
The experience also has an educational value that is highly appreciated by parents and schools. Guests get a unique view of the attractions of Harzdrenalin and an inside look at the dam and underwater world. The content was produced by Attraktion!, using a combination of real-drone footage, CGI animation, and greenscreen studio recording. The drone shooting on location was a significant part of the production, as no cuts were planned for this section of the ride. Every other element of the flight had to be timed perfectly to get a perfect view of all other attractions of Harzdrenalin.
